More about Trevor
Trevor is initially from Bontehewuel, a township in Cape Town. He grew up with his 4 siblings in a small house, as his mom tried to support them on a factory worker’s salary. He dropped out of high school to get a job and help out at home. Trevor met God during his teenage years and has since walked a long journey with Him. He started WRovert, a Building and Construction company and began employing young men from the community, in the hopes of giving them insight into a life that doesn’t include drugs and gangsterism.
What are some of the challenges you face in your daily life?
One of the biggest challenges in my life is that the youth of Cape Town have a severe struggle with drugs, gangsterism and hopelessness. “The danger our kids face on a daily basis is frightening; it’s a challenge to figure out the best way to help them and to give them hope for a better future.”
How do you overcome these challenges?
Trevor talks to God every day, praying for guidance and protection for the youth. He hopes that thousands of kids from the community will eventually find their way to God and start walking a path with Him. He knows that when a person with no hope finds God, their lives are changed forever.
What is one of your best memories of your life?
Trevor had trouble choosing his best memories because God has blessed him with so many. He notes that if he had to, it would be the day he got married and the birth of both his son and daughter.
Do you have any words of advice for those who feel like they have lost all hope?
Trevor states, “I always tell people not to sweat the small stuff. In life, you have to train your mind to be strong and fearless; you cannot get shaken by the little things that go wrong. Instead, rise to the occasion and keep going”. He continues by saying, “The sun will always rise tomorrow, regardless of what you’re currently going through”. Trevor concludes by noting that the best things in life are free, and if you open yourself up to the beauty that life can offer you’ll live a life filled with more positivity. He finds it most important to eliminate all negative thoughts and keep the positivity flowing at all times.
